Careers
Grow your craft with a team that ships real work.
We're a small, senior studio that takes creative work seriously. When you join Sunbloom, you're not fetching coffee — you're producing content that real businesses use to grow.
Content Production Intern
Sunbloom Creative
The opportunity
About the role
Sunbloom Creative is looking for a creative, dependable college student who wants hands-on experience producing photo and video content for real businesses and organizations.
This isn't an internship where you'll spend most of your time watching someone else work. You'll help us plan and capture content that will actually be used in our clients' marketing — and as you grow in the role, you'll have the opportunity to take increasing ownership of shoots and projects yourself.
We're looking for someone who already has a good eye for photo and video, but wants the opportunity to develop their skills in a professional marketing environment.
Your week
What you'll do
Your week will vary depending on what our clients and team have going on. Responsibilities may include:
- Capturing video and photography for client social media, advertising campaigns, websites, and other marketing materials
- Attending scheduled client shoots and capturing a variety of usable content
- Helping plan shots and creative approaches based on campaign goals
- Filming short-form vertical content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other platforms
- Capturing interviews, events, behind-the-scenes footage, b-roll, and photography
- Assisting Sunbloom team members during larger video and photo shoots
- Helping film Sunbloom's own marketing and social media content
- Supporting occasional photo/video projects for other Sunbloom clients
- Organizing, labeling, and uploading footage so our team can easily use it
- Performing basic editing or post-production work depending on your experience
- Looking for creative opportunities we may not have specifically asked for — we want someone who can think beyond a shot list
The fit
What we're looking for
You don't need years of professional experience. You do need to be someone we can trust to take ownership of your work. Our ideal candidate:
- Is currently studying video production, film, photography, marketing, communications, advertising, or a related field
- Has experience shooting video and/or photography, whether professionally, through school, or through personal projects
- Understands the basics of composition, lighting, audio, and visual storytelling
- Is comfortable working independently once given direction
- Can interact professionally and confidently with clients
- Is organized and reliable
- Pays attention to the small details
- Has an understanding of social media and what makes photo/video content engaging
- Is willing to learn, receive feedback, and improve
- Has reliable transportation and can travel to shoots around the Birmingham area
- Can work approximately 8–12 hours per week with some flexibility based on class schedules and client needs
Experience with Canva, CapCut, and the Captions app is ideal. Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar creative software is a plus, but isn't required for every candidate.
The upside
What you'll get
We want this to be an internship where you can genuinely grow. You'll have the opportunity to:
- Build a portfolio using real client work
- Gain experience working with a growing marketing agency
- Work across different businesses, industries, and types of projects
- Learn how video and photography fit into larger marketing campaigns
- Receive feedback and mentorship from the Sunbloom team
- Develop both your creative and client-facing skills
- Take on greater creative responsibility as you demonstrate your abilities
- Potentially grow into a larger role with Sunbloom as our client and production needs expand
You'll have guidance and support, but we're intentionally looking for someone who wants independence. Our goal is to get you to the point where we can give you the objective of a shoot and trust you to help make it happen.
Compensation & schedule
$17–$20/hour depending on experience. We anticipate approximately 8–12 hours per week, averaging around 10 hours. Scheduling will be flexible around classes when possible, although some client shoots will need to happen at specific times.
This is primarily an in-person role in the Birmingham area.
